Before & After Full Roof Replacement | Maidstone, Kent
Project Details:
In the “before” image, you can see the roof completely taken back to its core structure. All existing tiles were removed and disposed of safely, exposing the timber rafters ready for renewal.
From here, the following preparation work was carried out:
High-performance breathable membrane installed across the entire roof area, providing modern protection against wind-driven rain.
New treated battens fixed in place at correct gauge and spacing for the slate installation.
Chimney areas exposed for leadwork inspection, ensuring any future flashing work would be watertight.
Full scaffold access set up around the property to allow safe working conditions and tidy site management throughout the job.
This stage is crucial—it’s where the structure, ventilation and weatherproofing of the new roof are built from the ground up.
After: A Fully Finished, Watertight Slate Roof
The “after” image shows the roof completely transformed. Once the membrane and battens were installed, the team fitted:
Premium quality slates, each fixed securely to create a neat and consistent finish.
Ventilated ridge system installed along the apex to improve airflow and protect the roof’s lifespan.
New lead flashings formed and dressed around the chimney to ensure complete water tightness.
All perimeter edges, valleys and abutments carefully finished for a clean, uniform look.
Final clean-down and site inspection to ensure every slate was perfectly aligned and securely fixed.
The result is a modern, durable roof with excellent weather protection and a sharp visual finish, blending perfectly with the surrounding homes.
