New Felt, Battens, Tiles & Cement Ridge | Tunbridge Wells

Project Overview:

We were called to a beautiful property in Speldhurst, Tunbridge Wells, for a complete roof replacement. The existing roof was showing signs of age and deterioration, requiring a full upgrade to ensure lasting protection against the elements.

Scope of Work:

  1. Initial Assessment and Preparation:

    • A thorough assessment of the original roof was conducted. Then scaffolding was erected to ensure safe access and old tiles, battens and felt were removed to expose the roof structure.
  2. Installation of New Felt and Battens:

    • A high-quality Permavent APEX breathable felt was installed to provide effective waterproofing and ventilation. Timber battens were then fitted over the felt to secure the new tiles.
  3. Tile Installation:

    • New tiles were laid in a neat, consistent pattern to enhance both the appearance and durability. It was ensured that all the tiles were securely fixed to the battens, following best practices for weatherproofing and longevity.
  4. Cement Ridge Installation:

    • A cement mortar was applied to form a strong, durable ridge line. This achieved a clean, smooth finish to ensure proper sealing against moisture ingress.
  5. Final Inspection and Clean Up:

    • The completed roof was inspected for quality assurance and the site was cleared of all debris, leaving it tidy and presentable.
